Starting Up Your Own Cleaning Business

When it comes to starting up your own business, a cleaning company is a good place to start.  Provided you can get enough clients and you are good and cleaning, you can really make quite a bit of money without having to spend a lot to get it going.  This is the kind of business that can be set up with relatively little capital.  You will of course need cleaning products and some machines such as vacuum cleaners and you will probably need to spend a bit of money on advertising but aside from that, there is not much initial outlay.  Below is some advice on how to get started in this business.

Cleaning involves hard work so you need to make sure that you are in good physical shape before undertaking this type of role.  Make sure you are up to the job before you get started or you could find that you will not last the pace.

You are going to have to find customers so it is very important that you have some customer skills.  Customers need to be comfortable with you if they are going to work with you so developing good communication skills is a must.

If you are working at the moment and are going to give up your job in order to start this business then it would make sense to have some savings behind you to tide you over until you start making some money.  The best course of action would be to ensure that you can support yourself for about six months as it may take this long for your business to start making a profit.

Decide what you are going to charge people for your services.  Do your homework so that you can be sure you are charging competitive prices.  Find out what other cleaning companies are charging and make a point of keeping as near as possible to these prices or charging lower.  If you are charging less you have more chance of picking up customers.

If you are planning on cleaning residential houses then you may not have to purchase machines like vacuum cleaners because most homes will already have one and the customer should be more than happy to let you use theirs.  This will save you a bit of money and will also mean you don’t have to drag a vacuum cleaner about with you.

If you want to have more chance of getting customers then try to get some references.  This may mean offering to clean some houses free of charge or a discounted rate to begin with until you build up your reputation.
